COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 26, 2019) – Anna Holman, a libero/defensive specialist for FORZA1 18 UA Dana competing at the 2019 USA Volleyball Girls’ 18s Junior National Championships Open Division in Dallas, has been selected as Team Travel Source’s College Bound & Proud scholarship recipient.
Team Travel Source is the “Official Housing Company for USA Volleyball National Championship Events.” The College Bound & Proud Scholarship is a $2,500 award given to one male and one female athlete who are in good standing with USA Volleyball, are in their senior year of high school and are registered for a USAV Junior National Championships event in 2019.
“Team Travel Source is very proud to present this 3rd Annual College Bound & Proud Scholarship to Anna,” said Ainsley Harris, Team Travel Source director of volleyball accounts. “She is the true definition of a hardworking and dedicated student athlete excelling not just on the court but in the classroom and in the community. Team Travel Source is very thankful for this amazing partnership with USA Volleyball and so excited that we are able to help make a difference and help Anna as she takes the next step in her journey at the University of South Carolina.“
Holman has played for FORZA1 for two seasons and has been defensive captain for one year. She also plays beach volleyball and has two first-place finishes in California Beach Volleyball Association Tournaments.
Holman, who will compete for University of South Carolina this coming fall where she will major in business management. She will be graduating from Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta, California. While at Murrieta Valley, Holman has been a member of the National Honor Society since 2017 with a 4.0 grade point average.
“I am so excited to be receiving this award,” Holman said. “I never thought it would happen. When I received the email, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had to go back and check it quite a few times. It means a lot from a standpoint of that I want to go to school and graduate school. I believe that this scholarship will help me achieve my educational goals at a higher level.”
Outside of school activities and volleyball, Holman has projected herself well into the business and creative professional fields. She started Anna Elizabeth Photography in 2015, a business where she specializes portrait, sports action and events photography that has reached 30 clients. Holman serves as vice president of public relations for Virtual Enterprise Business Team since last May. In that position, she has been awarded two first-place awards in video commercial competitions in California.
Holman has been active with Project 99, a suicide awareness non-profit organization, for four years. She earned a California Senate certificate of recognition for her work with Project 99.
“I am convinced that I was born with a knack for taking risks embedded in my genes,” Holman said. “Meeting people or trying new activities does not frighten me; the lingering taunt of failure never prevents me from pursuing my goals. Hard work and determination to prove myself has paved a way for me to advance through six years of club volleyball and earn a spot on the University of South Carolina’s volleyball team.”
The College Bound and Proud Scholarship was chosen by a committee consisting of Team Travel Source team members, trusted business and education professionals, and USA Volleyball staff.
