Team USA finished 2019 with an undefeated 25-0 season and are 51-1 since the last tournament of 2017. The Americans will attempt to win their second consecutive Paralympic Games gold medal later this summer and fifth overall Paralympic medal since women’s sitting volleyball was added to the program in 2004.
The U.S. Women Sitting Team, ranked No. 1 in the world, is the reigning Paralympic Games champion after winning the 2016 Rio Games. Russia, ranked sixth in the world, is the current World ParaVolley world champion and the only team to defeat the Americans in their last 52 matches. Brazil is ranked No. 3 in the world. All three teams have qualified for the eight-team 2020 Paralympic Games. The U.S. won all eight head-to-head matches with Russia in 2019 and both matches against Brazil.
Team USA has held sitting volleyball matches at Crossroads in 10 of the past 12 years. Large crowds of junior athletes and their parents have flocked to the sitting volleyball court during Crossroads to watch the top-ranked women’s sitting team in the world compete.
The U.S. will hold autograph sessions after their matches where fans can interact directly with the top stars of the sitting volleyball game.
