History
A Legacy of Medals
The United States is one of the most successful countries ever in the Olympic Games for beach volleyball. Since the sport’s addition to the Olympic program in 1996, the U.S. has won 11 total medals, second only to Brazil’s 13. However, the U.S. leads all countries with seven gold medals. Some of the country’s most well-known players come from the beach side, and the U.S. has never failed to win a medal (men’s or women’s) in any Olympic Games.
U.S. teams are also top competitors on the FIVB World Tour, winning countless medals and numerous “best” awards. In 2023, Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes won the Beach World Championship gold medal and Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss won bronze. On the men’s side, Trevor Crabb and Theo Brunner finished fourth.
