COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 25, 2021) – USA Volleyball is proud to announce the Beach U19 National Team, which was decided at the U19 FIVB World Championship Trials June 22-24 in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Adam Hartmann and Dylan Zacca won the boys division and have clinched a spot at the U19 Beach World Championship this September. The Floridians earned the berth after a three-set win (21-10, 19-21, 15-9) over Caleb Kwekel and Gage Basey in the championship match. Kwekel and Basey, previously unbeaten in the tournament, took silver.
Dylan Foreman and Thomas Hurst paired together to win bronze. They beat Benjamin Hutka and Jacob Reilly in straight sets.
Meanwhile, Xolani Hodel and Kate Reilly won a Southern California-dominated girls division after a narrow 2-0 (23-21, 21-19) win over Delaynie Maple and Megan Kraft in the finale. Hodel and Reilly, from Huntington Beach and Manhattan Beach, respectively. also earned a berth at the U19 Beach World Championship later this year. Maple and Kraft, both from San Diego, took silver.
Fellow San Diegan Chloe Hooker teamed with Winnetka, Calif., native Isabella Martinez to claim bronze.
As of now, the United States has earned one boys berth and one girls berth to the U19 Beach World Championship, held September 15-19 in Roi Et, Thailand. Should the United States earn a second berth in either gender, the silver medalist team will claim that berth. The bronze medalist teams will then serve as alternates.
These six pairs of the Beach U19 National Team will participate in a training camp in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, July 29-31. That camp will run concurrently with the Beach High Performance Championship.
