Men's Sitting Team Gets Big Set Win in Loss

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 5, 2022) – The U.S. Men’s Sitting Team fell to world No. 2 Bosnia & Herzegovina 3-1 (25-17, 25-13, 24-26, 25-21) on Saturday at the World ParaVolley World Championship in Sarajevo.

It was the first time the U.S. Men (1-1) have won a set against the European side. The U.S. Men will finish pool play on Sunday against Serbia (1-1) at 8:45 a.m. CST. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back! Both teams have beaten Japan and lost to Bosnia & Herzegovina.

“That match reaffirmed the direction we are trying to head,” U.S. Assistant Coach Joe Skinner said. “Any time you have to play good team in their home country, it’s very difficult. We handled it very well. I’m really proud of the way we fought in sets three and four. We gave ourselves an opportunity and that’s all you can ask.”

Bosnia & Herzegovina led the statistics in kills (40-28), blocks (14-9) and aces (8-6).

Eric Duda and Zach Upp each finished with 13 points for the U.S. Duda scored on a team-high 10 kills, one block and two aces. Upp tallied seven kills, three blocks and a team-high three aces.

Roderick Green scored nine points on five kills and four blocks. James Stuck totaled four points on three kills and one ace. Chris Seilkop scored three points on three kills. Substitute Patrick Young scored a point with a block.

Libero Nicholas Dadgostar had 41 receptions, 44 percent positive.

“In the third set, we did a good job of working hard in serve receive so we could side out at a high percentage,” Skinner said. “That allowed us to attack and keep Bosnia out of rhythm, which carried over to early the fourth set. We will use this momentum moving forward.”
