Men’s Sitting Team to Play for 5th after Loss to Iran

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 10. 2022) – The U.S. Men’s Sitting Team fell to Germany on Thursday 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-21) in the fifth-place match at the World ParaVolley World Championships in Sarajevo.
The U.S. Men finish Worlds in sixth place at 4-3. It is their best finish ever at worlds.
“They’ve proven that they can battle with the best,” U.S. Men’s Head Coach Greg Walker said of his team. “I am excited to see how we adapt to raising the bar of our competitiveness at the top level with top teams. We’re so close. I thought that was the best part.”
A day after beating Ukraine for the first time, the U.S. Men led Germany in aces (6-2) but trailed in kills (33-26) and blocks (12-2). Germany also scored 28 points on U.S. errors while giving up 11 points on errors.
Zach Upp led the U.S. scoring with 14 points on 10 kills and a match-high four aces.
Middle blocker Roderick Green added six points on five kills and one block.
Middle Chris Seilkop totaled four points on three kills and one ace. Outside hitter James Stuck scored four points on three aces and one block.
Outside hitter Eric Duda scored three points on three kills and Patrick Young played as a subsitute and scored three points on two kills and one ace.
Nicholas Dadgostar led the team in receptions with 28 receptions: 64 percent positive. John Kremer was the starting setter.
Ben Aman and Travis Ricks also played as substitutes.
