History

The Gold Standard

With three Olympic gold medals, the U.S. Men’s National Team has set the standard atop the Olympic podium. No other country has won more golds. The Americans also won Olympic bronze medals in 1992 and 2016. The U.S. has struck gold in both the FIVB World Championship (1986) and FIVB World Cup (1985, 2015) and has also medaled in both iterations of the Volleyball Nations League (2018-19). The U.S. Men have finished with gold or silver in every NORCECA Championship they’ve participated in since 1981, making the U.S. Men’s National Team one of the most successful in the world.

They Said It

Erik Shoji, on qualifying for the Tokyo Games

“We’re so happy. We expected a battle from the Netherlands and we got that. I think it was huge how we performed at the end of each set with those three-set wins. We’re just so excited, so happy and a bit relieved to have this off of our back and just so excited to be coming home with the win.”
