LONG BEACH, Calif. – In Daegu, South Korea, Amanda Dowdy and Irene Pollock earned their third Top 10 finish of the year on the FIVB World Tour.
Amanda Dowdy and Irene Pollock tied for fifth at the Daegu 1 Star tournament, on Saturday. The women-only event featured 16 teams that played in single-elimination main draw action.
Dowdy and Pollock were the lone American team at the tournament. In the opening round, they defeated Cecilie Olsen/Laerke Gronfeldt of Denmark, 21-18, 25-22. In the quarterfinal, the American duo fell in two frames, to Thailand’s Varapatsorn Radarong/Tanarattha Udomchavee, 21-19, 21-17.
This season, the duo have finished in the Top 10 at all of their World Tour events. Prior to this week, Dowdy and Pollock tied for ninth in Nanjing and Nantong (China), both 2-Star tournaments.
The U.S. beach volleyball teams continue with the FIVB World Tour, with concurrent tournaments next week:

July 20-22 Ulsan, South Korea 1 Star, women only
