16s Bring the Heat on First Championship Day at BJNC
USA Volleyball crowned four champions in the 16 division Sunday at the 2023 Boys Junior National Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 3, 2023) – Hometown favorite Club V MP 14U Black wore the crown on Sunday as it won the 14 Open Division at the Boys Junior National Championship (BJNC) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Finals in the 14s, 15s and 16s age divisions were held on Sunday. Finals in the 13s, 17s and 18s will be held on July 6.
The BJNC is the United States’ premier junior boys club tournament for athletes ages 12-18 and attracts the most elite athletes and college scouts from across the country.

Club V MP 14U Black out of North Salt Lake City in the Intermountain Region went undefeated in winning the championship. In the final, Club V beat Aspire 14-1 Ninjas out of the Northern California Region, 2-1 (11-25, 27-25, 15-9).
“We’ve worked a long time for this,” Club V Head Coach Robert Mendenhall said. ““We lost in the finals last year and we came back this year to win it.
“Aspire gave us all we could handle. We had to come back from a really bad loss in set 1.”
NOC 14-1 Green out of the Southern California Region placed third and IMUA Universal 14UA out of Southern California finished fourth.

Tsunami Volleyball Club Benji bounced back from losing its first match of the tournament (2-0 to Vegas United B14 Black) to take the title.
In the final, TVC Benji beat MAVS 14 Red from the Heart of America Region 2-1 (25-11, 24-26, 15-5).
“It feels surreal,” Tsunami Head Coach Benjamin Barbo said. “I am still trying to savor the moment… These boys have worked hard and I’m just super proud of them. They have overcome a lot over the past four days.”
NPJ Seattle 14B National out of the Puget Sound Region finished third and Pipeline BOYS 14 Adidas from Southern California took fourth.

SG ELITE 14 Elite Boys from Southern California had one three-set loss to Evolution 14 Elite (SC) on the way to the final. In the championship, SG ELITE beat 808 Athletic Club Blue from the Aloha Region 2-0 (25-22, 25-17).
Pacific Rim 14-1 from Northern California took third and Arizona Premier Volleyball 18 Black placed fourth.
