COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 24, 2021) – Italy’s Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano with outside hitters Megan Courtney and Kathryn Plummer broke the world record for consecutive victories by a women’s volleyball team when they beat Delta Depar Trentino on Nov. 21.

Conegliano (8-0) won the match 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-20) for its 74th straight victory, beating the record of 73 by Turkey’s Vakifbank. Plummer scored 10 points on eight kills and two blocks. She was credited with 11 receptions, 64 percent positive. Courtney was not on the roster for the match.

On Nov. 14, Courtney scored 12 points on 10 kills and two blocks in a 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-18, 15-8) win over Bosca S.Bernardo Cuneo. She was credited with 19 receptions, 53 percent positive. Plummer started the final two sets of the match and scored three points on three kills.

Conegliano won its first match in the CEV Champions League on Nov. 24 against Serbia’s ZOK UB, 3-0 (25-8, 27-25, 25-16).

Italy’s Igor Gorgonzola Novara with middle Haleigh Washington and Hancock has improved to 7-1. On Nov. 21, they beat Acqua & Sapone Roma Volley Club, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-18).

Hancock scored two points on a kill and a block and set Novara to a .339 hitting efficiency. Washington started the first two sets and scored seven points on five kills (.714) and two blocks. U.S. setter Madi Bugg played for Acqua & Sapone Roma and scored one point with a kill. She set her team to a .240 hitting efficiency.

Novara begins play in the CEV Champions League on Nov. 25 against Turkey’s THY, the team of outside hitter Madi Kingdon Rishel, setter Lauren Carlini and middle Tori Dixon.

Setter Jordyn Poulter and Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio (5-3) defeated Volley Bergamo 1991, 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-15) on Sunday. Poulter scored one point with an ace and set Arsizio to a .338 hitting efficiency. U.S. outside hitter Khalia Lanier, who played for Bergamo, led her team with 22 points on 19 kills, one block and two aces. She was credited with 32 receptions, 56 percent positive.

Busto Arsizio won its first CEV Champions Cup match on Nov. 17, beating Belgium’s VDK Bank Gent Games 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19). Poulter scored two points on two blocks and set her team to a .368 hitting efficiency.

TURKEY

On Nov. 14, Vakifbank, with middle blocker Chiaka Ogbogu and outside hitter Michelle Bartsch-Hackley, beat Turk Hava Yollari (THY), with Kingdon Rishel and Carlini, 3-1 (29-27, 18-25, 32-30, 25-22).

Bartsch-Hackley played as a substitute before starting the final two sets and scored eight points on six kills (.550) and two blocks. She was credited with 12 receptions, 42 percent positive. Ogbogu started the first two sets and played as a substitute scoring eight points on six kills, one block and one ace. Kingdon Rishel started the first two sets and played as a substitute, scoring four points on four kills. She was credited with 11 receptions, 55 percent positive. Carlini set her team to a .349 hitting efficiency.

Dixon did not play in the match.

On Nov. 19, THY improved to 8-2 with a 3-2 (25-11, 25-27, 25-14, 20-25, 15-6) victory over Sariyer Bld. Kingdon Rishel led all scorers with 33 points on 31 kills (.491) and two blocks. She was credited with 28 receptions, 36 percent positive.

On Nov. 20, Vakifbank improved to 9-2 with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-12) win over Galatasaray HDI Sigorta. Bartsch-Hackley led all players with 19 points on 18 kills (.667) and one ace. She was credited with 18 receptions, 56 percent positive.

Vakifbank beat Itay’s Vero Volley Monza in its first match of the CEV Champions League, 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-21) on Nov. 24. Bartsch-Hackley scored 14 points on 12 kills and two aces. Ogbogu added 11 points on a match-high four blocks and seven kills (.583).

Opposite Jordan Thompson came back from an injury she suffered during the Olympic Games and made her first start of the season for Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul in the CEV Champions Cup. She helped her team beat Serbia’s Zeleznicar Lajkocac, 3-0 (28-26, 25-17, 25-17). Statistics from the match were not available.

JAPAN

U.S. opposite Annie Drews and JT Marvelous (10-0) continued their winning ways on Nov. 14 with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 28-26) victory over Victorina Himeji. Drews led all scorers with 22 points on 22 kills. Drews is fourth in the league in points scored with 186.

Outside hitter Sarah Wilhite Parsons and the NEC Red Rockets (9-1) beat the Okayama Seagulls 3-1 (25-17, 27-29, 25-20, 25-19) on Nov. 13. Wilhite Parsons started the first two sets and played as a substitute, scoring nine points on eight kills and one block.

Middle Hannah Tapp and Hitachi Rivale (3-7) defeated outside hitter Kelsey Robinson and the Toyota Auto Body Queenseis (0-10), 3-0 (25-18, 30-28, 25-20) on Nov. 14. Tapp led her team with 13 points on 10 kills and three blocks. Robinson finished with 14 points on 12 kills, one block and one ace.

Foluke Akinradewo Gunderson did not play for Hisamitsu Springs (8-2) in its 3-0 victory over the KUROBE Aqua Fairies on Nov. 14.

GERMANY

Libero Justine Wong-Orantes and VC Wiesbaden beat NawaRo Straubing, 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-20) on Nov. 20 to improve to 4-3. Wong-Orantes was credited with 18 receptions, 78 percent positive.

BRAZIL

Opposite Danielle Cuttino and Itambé Minas are in second place at 6-1 in Brazil. On Nov. 23, Itambé Minas beat Curitiba Vôlei, 3-0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-20). Cuttino led her team with 12 points on 11 kills and one block.

Middle Rachael Adams and Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde are 5-1 and in third place. On Nov. 23, they beat Esporte Clube Pinheiros, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20). Adams scored six points on five kills and one block.

CHINA

Outside hitter Jordan Larson will play for Shanghai in China’s league, which begins play on Nov. 25.
