COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 3, 2019) – The U.S. Women’s National Sitting Volleyball Team will host Ukraine in a joint training session with three informal scrimmages scheduled from April 11-14 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
Matches are scheduled for April 12 and April 13 at 4 p.m. CT, followed by an April 14 match at 9 a.m. CT. The scrimmages, which are open to the public, will take place at the UCO Wellness Center (550 N. University Drive). The joint training session also serves as Team USA’s monthly training block held in Edmond.
The U.S. Women are currently ranked No. 1 in the world after having won the 2016 Paralympic Games and earning silver at the 2018 World ParaVolley World Championships. Ukraine is ranked fourth in World ParaVolley rankings. Ukraine finished sixth at last year’s World Championship and placed fourth at the 2016 Paralympic Games. The Americans defeated the Ukrainians three times last year, once during the World Championship quarterfinals and twice during the Dutch Tournament.
The Americans have already played five exhibition matches in 2019, going 5-0 against Canada in matches held March 15-17 in Denver.
