Michelle Goodall | 2020 George J. Fisher Leader in Volleyball

Michelle Goodall has a habit of saying yes, and that has expanded her volleyball wings to nearly every discipline.

While in college, Michelle coached her first high school volleyball team in Rocky Ford, Colorado. She moved back to her home state of Iowa in the early 1990s where she played on a women’s USA Volleyball club team. But more importantly, Michelle started a 20-year tenure as head coach of her alma mater, Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. She was co-founder of Cedar Rapids Metro Volleyball Club, and that spurred her to form Cougar Volleyball Club as a feeder club for her high school athletes.

In 2007, Michelle began an 11-year tenure with the Iowa Region. She served as region education director, SafeSport Coordinator, High Performance Coordinator and region HP coach, Beach High Performance Director, Sitting Volleyball Director and Communications Director.

Through her Iowa Region work, Michelle became a leader on the national scene. She was one of the founding members of the Beach Assembly Admin Council and served as its chair. Michelle was also a member of USAV’s Admin Council, Education Committee, SafeSport Committee, Sport Development Commission, Paralympic Commission and the MERR Committee. She is a Coaching Accreditation Program cadre member and Master IMPACT instructor.

In 2016, Michelle served as team leader for the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team that won the Rio Paralympic Games and remained in that position through 2018 while also still coaching at Kennedy High School. In January 2019, she accepted the assistant coach position with the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team and helped Team USA to its first-ever undefeated season. During the 2019 season, Michelle also took on the Beach ParaVolley program administrator role to blend in her beach background.
